According to the Panchang, the date of Vijaya Ekadashi 2024 of Krishna Paksha of Phalgun month will start from 6:31 am on March 6 and will continue till 4:14 am on March 7. Vijaya Ekadashi 2024 fast will be observed on 6th March.
Vijaya Ekadashi 2024: Significance
Regarding Vijaya Ekadashi, it is believed that by observing this fast a person attains victory. With the wish of conquering Lanka, Lord Rama observed a fast on this Ekadashi on the sea shore as per the orders of Bakdalbhya Muni. Due to which Ravana was killed and Lord Ramachandra was victorious.
Vijaya Ekadashi 2024 Puja Vidhi
- A day before Vijay Ekadashi, make a pure place and keep Sapta Anja on it.
- On the day of Vijaya Ekadashi, wake up in the morning in Brahma Muhurta, after this clean the temple of worship thoroughly. Then place seven grains on it.
- After this, install a silver, copper or clay urn there.
- After all this, install the idol of Lord Vishnu.
- Then worship Lord Vishnu with incense, lamp, sandalwood, fruits, flowers and basil etc.
- Along with observing the fast, recite the story of Vijaya Ekadashi fast.
- Stay awake at night by chanting the name of Shri Hari.
- Reciting ‘Vishnu Sahasranama’ on this day is considered extremely auspicious.
Vijaya Ekadashi 2024 Story
According to mythology, during the Ramayana period, when Lord Shri Ram was going to attack Lanka with his monkey armies, he faced a huge challenge of crossing the vast ocean.
The sea was very big and it was not so easy to cross it; Therefore, they could not find any way to cross this ocean. Finally he found a way to attack Lanka by sea but failed there too.
Then he asked the sages for the solution and they said that Shri Ram along with his monkey army should fast on Vijaya Ekadashi, it will benefit them. And they will also find a way to make way.
Hearing the words of the sages, Lord Shri Ram along with the monkey army observed the fast of Vijaya Ekadashi on the Ekadashi date of Krishna Paksha of Phalgun month and worshiped Lord Vishnu with full rituals.
It is said that due to the influence of Ekadashi fast, the route to Lanka by sea was prepared. Due to the virtue of Vijaya Ekadashi fast, Shri Ram ji won over Ravana and since then Vijaya Ekadashi fast has great importance.
The fast of Vijaya Ekadashi became famous among the common people also and people started observing this fast for the success of any of their work.
