International Big Cat Alliance: Let me tell you that India has formed an international organization to provide protection and conservation to seven major lion species. Whose name is Big Cat Alliance.

The International Big Cat alliance focuses on the protection and conservation of 7 major lion species โ€“ tiger, lion, leopard, jaguar, puma, snow leopard and cheetah โ€“ by the Government of India.

Let me tell you that this International Big Cat alliance is led by India. 16 countries have joined it. including countries and 9 international organizations have also agreed to join the IBCA alliance.

At least 16 countries, including Brazil, Nepal, Bangladesh and Malaysia, have formally joined the newly formed India-led Big Cat alliance. Environment Minister Bhupendra Yadav gave this information on Friday.

He said nine international organizations including the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) International have also agreed to join the IBCA Alliance.

Which animals will be protected in International Big Cat Alliance?

This initiative focuses on the protection and conservation of the seven major lion species tiger, lion, leopard, jaguar, puma, snow leopard and cheetah.

Let me tell you that tiger, lion, leopard, snow leopard and cheetah are found in India. India will give impetus to the Big Cat conservation campaign worldwide. 

After International Solar Alliance, now the International Big Cat Alliance headquarters of International Big Cat Alliance (IBCA) will also be in India.

Approval was given to open the IBCA headquarters in the cabinet meeting held on Thursday under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Government of India has sanctioned Rs 150 crore for the operation of IBCA Headquarters for the next five years.

The Cabinet has also approved Rs 150 crore for the operation of the headquarters for the next five years i.e. from the financial year 2023-24 to 2027-28.

It has been envisaged to include all the 96 countries around the world in this International Alliance formed for the conservation of Big Cat. Where Big Cat species are found. 16 countries joined it.
