Draft of Uttarakhand UCC handed over to CM Dhami
The five-member committee constituted by the Uttarakhand government handed over the draft of ‘Uttarakhand UCC’ to Chief Minister Dhami in a program organized.
In a program organized here, Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai, chairperson of the five-member committee and former judge of the Supreme Court, handed over the draft of UCC to Chief Minister Dhami. State Chief Secretary Radha Raturi was present in the program.
Let me tell you that a committee was constituted by the Uttarakhand government to prepare the draft of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC).
This constituted committee handed over the draft documents to Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami here on Friday.
Apart from Judge Desai (retired), Justice Pramod Kohli (retired), social worker Manu Gaur, former Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand Shatrughan Singh and Vice Chancellor of Doon University Surekha Dangwal were also present during this function.
When will Uttarakhand UCC be implemented?
Government is taking immediate steps to pass the bill on Uttarakhand UCC. A four-day special session of the Uttarakhand Assembly has been called from 5 February 2024 this week.
The draft will also be discussed in the state cabinet before presenting it as a bill in the Assembly. After the bill is presented in the Uttarakhand Assembly. It will be implemented as a law very soon.
What will happen if Uttarakhand UCC is implemented?
If UCC is applicable in Uttarakhand. So the state government can impose its equality law on many types of unequal laws. In this, the marriage age of girls will increase.
The age of girls will now be increased from 18 to 21 years. Both husband and wife will have equal rights for divorce. Registration will be necessary after marriage.
There will be a complete ban on polygamy. If someone commits polygamy. So action will be taken on that. Both son and daughter will get equal rights in inheritance.
CM Dhami held press conference on Uttarakhand UCC
Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami said in a press conference that a Uniform Civil Code bill will be introduced in the upcoming assembly session. And it will be implemented as law very soon.
We have always been determined to provide equal rights to everyone in the state while realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Ek Bharat – Shrestha Bharat”. And today we are taking this resolution towards accomplishment through Uttarakhand UCC.
Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami said in the press conference that the committee that made UCC has given us the draft today.
The committee had first started dialogue with the village. The committee had held talks at 43 places in the state.
Many scholars have worked in this committee. Today the draft has been received in 740 pages and 4 volumes. He said that the special session is going to be held on 5th February.
We will discuss this. We will discuss it in the House. This was our election resolution, we will come to power and implement it.
