Putrada Ekadashi vrat story

There was a king named Suketuman in a city named Bhadravati. He was a very brave, skilled ruler and a charitable king. In his kingdom, the people were satisfied and happy with his rule.

From time to time the king used to perform auspicious works in the interest of the people. But the glorious and merciful king had no children.

The king was always worried that I have no children and it is written in the scriptures that a man does not have any children but he is always indebted to his ancestors.

The king used to think day and night as to who will perform his Pind Daan after his death and if his son dies like this then how will he be able to repay the debt to his ancestors.

One day, while wandering, the king reached a forest in which a sage was doing penance. The king saluted the sage. The sage read the worry in the king’s mind and asked the king, why are you so worried?

The king told all his troubles to the sage and said, O sage, please end my suffering. Please tell me some solution so that I can have a child.

Then the sage said to observe the fast of Pausha Putrada Ekadashi on the Ekadashi date in the Shukla Paksha of the month of Pausha. By observing this fast you will be blessed with a son.

The king listened to the sage’s words and came to his palace with the knowledge of the method of fasting. The king fasted along with his wife and with time the king was blessed with a son.
