Murder of 2 students in Manipur- Thousands of students took out rallies in the city for the second consecutive day on Wednesday to protest against the kidnapping and Murder of 2 students in Manipur, Imphal.
A protest rally was taken out against the murder of two youths. Many students were injured during the demonstration. This information was given by a local police officer. Large scale ethnic clashes have been taking place in the north-eastern state since May 3 this year.
Violence is not stopping in Manipur. For the second consecutive day on Wednesday, thousands of students took out protest rallies and raised slogans on the streets of Imphal against the kidnapping and Murder of 2 students in Manipur.
Anticipating possible protests and violence, Manipur Police, CRPF and RAF personnel were seen deployed in large numbers in Imphal Valley.
In Churachandpur, the women’s wing of the apex Kuki body, Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum (ITLF In Manipur) protested against the delay in ordering a CBI probe into the killings and rapes of tribals during nearly five months of ethnic violence.

Thokchom Khogendro Singh, a student leader, said, โWe are protesting peacefully against the kidnapping and killing of fellow students. And we have asked everyone to wear black badges in protest. Police officials said they are monitoring the situation.
School holiday on 27th and 29th Sep
In view of the prevailing law and order situation, the state government has declared a holiday in schools on September 27 and 29. Also, September 28 is a public holiday in view of Milad un-Nabi (birthday of Prophet Muhammad).
What is the matter
More than 175 people have been killed since ethnic clashes broke out in the northeastern state on May 3. Many hundreds have been injured. When ‘Tribal Solidarity March’ was organized in the hill districts in protest against the demand of the majority Meitei community to grant them Scheduled Tribe status.
The Meitei people constitute about 53 percent of Manipur’s population and live mostly in the Imphal Valley. While tribals including Naga and Kuki constitute 40 percent and live mostly in hill districts.
