On June 25, 1985, the flight was en route from Montreal to London and was flying at an altitude of 31,000 feet over the Atlantic Ocean when it suddenly exploded.

All 307 passengers and 22 crew members on board were killed. Canada observes National Remembrance Day for the Victims of Terrorism every year on June 23 to commemorate those killed in the bombing.
