Anant Chaturdashi 2022 Katha
Shri Krishna told a story to explain the importance of this fast, which is as follows…
In ancient times there was an ascetic Brahmin named Sumanta. His wife’s name was Deeksha.
Both of them had a supremely beautiful pious and Jyotirmayi daughter. Whose name was Sushila. When Sushila grew up, her mother Diksha died. After the death of his wife, Sumant married a woman named Karkasha, and Sushila was married by Brahmin Sumant to Kaundinya Rishi.

At the time of parting, the shrew tied some bricks and pieces of stones to the son-in-law. Kaundinya Rishi left for his ashram with his wife. On the way, dusk started setting in and the sages started offering evening prayers on the banks of the river. Meanwhile, Sushila saw that many women were worshiping some deity.
Sushila asked the women to whom they were praying, to which they told her about the importance of worshiping Lord Ananta and observing his fast on this day. After hearing about the importance of the fast, Sushila performed the rituals of that fast there and tied a thread with fourteen knots in her hand, and came to sage Kaundinya.
When Kaundinya asked Sushila about Dore, she told the whole thing. Kaundinya refused to accept all this and took out the sacred thread and threw it into the fire. After this, all his property was destroyed and he started living unhappily.

When he asked his wife the reason for this poverty, Sushila told about burning the thread of Anant Bhagwan. Repenting, sage Kaundinya went to the forest to get the eternal thread. After wandering in the forest for many days, one day he fell to the ground in despair.
Then the infinite God appeared and said, “O Kaundinya! You had disrespected me, that’s why you had to suffer so much. you are sad Now you have repented. I am pleased with you Now you go home and do infinite fast methodically. By fasting for 14 years your sorrow will go away. You will be blessed with wealth. Kaundinya did the same and got freedom from all the troubles.
By the order of Shri Krishna, Yudhishthira also observed the Anant Bhagwan methodically for 14 years, and with its effect the Pandavas won the war of Mahabharata and continued to rule forever. Only after this, the fasting of Anant Chaturdashi came into vogue.
