Shahbaz Sharif got 201 votes
On Sunday, March 3, voting for the post of Prime Minister took place in the 336-member House of Pakistan. During this period, Shahbaz Sharif got a total of 201 votes.
Whereas PTI candidate Omar Ayub Khan got 92 votes. After the voting results came, Shahbaz Sharif’s name was announced as the new Prime Minister of Pakistan.
According to media reports, Shehbaz Sharif can take oath as Prime Minister on Monday, 4 March 2024 at the presidential residence Aiwan-e-Sadr.
Omar Ayub Khan had contested elections from PTI in place of Imran
On Saturday, March 2, Shehbaz Sharif had filed his nomination for the post of Prime Minister of Pakistan. If media reports are to be believed, even before the elections the figures appeared to be in favor of PML-N.
From this time onwards, speculations started being made that the command of Pakistan could once again go into the hands of Shahbaz Sharif.
Omar Ayub Khan, leader of Imran Khan’s party PTI, stood against Shehbaz Sharif in the Parliament of Pakistan.
Whereas PTI candidate Omar Ayub Khan got 92 votes. He lost the election as MP. Therefore now Shahbaz Sharif became PM of Pakistan for the second time.
No party got clear majority for PM of Pakistan

Therefore, Nawaz Sharif’s party PML-N had decided to form a government in alliance with PPP and MQM. Shehbaz Sharif is the younger brother of former Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif.
Shehbaz Sharif had earlier led the coalition government as Prime Minister from April 2022 to August 2023.
Pakistan’s newly elected MPs took oath
The country’s newly elected MPs took oath on Thursday after Pakistan President Arif Alvi called a session of the National Assembly.
During this time, supporters of jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan had protested alleging massive voting rigging in the elections.
Ashraf administered the oath to the newly elected MPs amid slogans against alleged rigging in the general elections by MPs supporting Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
