Mauni Amavasya 2024:The new moon day of Magh month is called Mauni Amavasya. This is a Mahavrat based on yoga. According to beliefs, on this day the gods reside in the holy Sangam, hence bathing in the Ganga on this day has special significance.
This month has also been called a virtuous month like Kartik. For this reason, devotees build a hut on the banks of Ganga and bathe and meditate in the Ganga for a month.
Lord Vishnu and Shiva are worshiped on the day of Mauni Amavasya 2024. It is believed that this opens the way to attain salvation. There is a tradition of observing a fast of silence on this day.
This is the only Amavasya in the year in which one gets relief from the evils of Pitra and Shani by observing a fast of silence, doing chanting, penance and worship.

According to the Panchang, the date of Mauni Amavasya 2024 will start on 9 February 2024 at 8:02 am. It will end the next day on 10 February 2024 at 4:28 am. In Hindu religion, fasts and festivals are valid from the date of sunrise.
The date of Mauni Amavasya 2024 is starting after sunrise on 9th February but Amavasya Tithi will remain there for the entire day. And it is ending before sunrise on 10th February.
In such a situation, it would be best to take bath, worship and recite Mauni Amavasya 2024 on 9 February 2024.
