Kothari brothers- The Yogi Government of Uttar Pradesh is constructing a road in Ayodhya in the name of the Kothari brothers. Ram Kumar Kothari and Sharad Kumar Kothari, better known as the Kothari brothers, in Ayodhya in October 1990. He was killed by the police during the Ram Mandir movement.
He had gone from Kolkata to Ayodhya to do car service for the Ram Mandir. The elder brother, Ram Kumar Kothari was only 23 years old and the younger Sharad Kumar Kothari was only 20 years old. He was shot dead at point-blank range by the police under orders from the Mulayam Singh Yadav government.
His sister Poornima Kothari was invited to lay the foundation stone of the temple for the Bhoomi Pujan of the grand Ram Mandir in Ayodhya on 5 August. The landmark judgment of the Supreme Court paved the way for the construction of a grand Ram Mandir in the temple city of Ayodhya. The Government of Uttar Pradesh, in collaboration with the Central Government, has initiated several projects aimed at developing Ayodhya as an international tourist destination. The construction of an international airport has started in Ayodhya.

Who were the Kothari brothers
Originally residents of Kolkata, Ram Kumar Kothari, and Sharad Kumar Kothari were two brothers. He was a very religious and kind person since childhood. According to Rajesh Aggarwal, a friend of the Kothari brothers, according to the book ‘Eyewitnesses of Ayodhya’, on the night of 22 October, Sharad and Ramkumar Kothari had left Kolkata and stopped at Banaras.
The government had stopped trains and buses. Then both the brothers somehow reached Phulpur town of Azamgarh by taxi. Now the road from Phulpur was also closed. But on October 25, both of them set out on foot towards Ayodhya and after walking about 200 km, both reached Ayodhya on October 30. About 30,000 UP PAC personnel were deployed around the disputed site and in Ayodhya City.
On October 30, 1990, the first man to climb the dome of the then Babri Masjid in Ayodhya was Sharad Kothari, then his brother Ramkumar Kothari. Both had hoisted the saffron flag there. The firing incident by Mulayam Singh on November 02, 1990, is well known. On the same day both the brothers made the supreme sacrifice in a bullet fired by the oppressive police.
On 4 November 1990, Sharad and Ramkumar Kothari were cremated at Saryu Ghat. Thousands of people gathered at his funeral. The people present were bidding farewell to both the immortal sacrifices with thousands of slogans. There was only one name on everyone’s lips ‘Jai Shri Ram’.
Presently a grand Ram Mandir is being constructed in Ayodhya. In which the Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh will give proper and meaningful respect to the Kothari brothers by announcing a road in Ayodhya on Wednesday.
Brief description of the struggles of Ram Mandir
- The decision was taken in the meeting of the Central Margdarshak Mandal of Vishwa Hindu Parishad at Haridwar on June 24, 1990. So that on October 30, 1990 (Devotthan Ekadashi) he would go to Ayodhya to do Karseva.
- The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh surrounded Ayodhya with security forces from all sides and declared that ‘the bird can’t be killed’. Hindu society accepted this challenge and thousands of people reached Ayodhya despite all kinds of repression.
- The kar sevaks hoist the saffron flag on the domes at the appointed time. Bullets were fired there and kar sevaks were sacrificed.
- The firing incident of November 02, 1990, is well known. Finally the government bowed down and all the kar sevaks were allowed to visit, only then the kar sevaks went to their homes.
- Satyagraha took place for twenty days, thousands of people used to come every day. The program of worship of the bones of kar sevaks was completed across the country.

- On April 04, 1991, a historic public meeting was held at the Boat Club in Delhi. It is estimated that 25 lakh devotees of Ram attended this meeting.
- At the end of the meeting, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Mr. Mulayam Singh Yadav resigned. Shri Kalyan Singh of BJP became the Chief Minister after re-election in Uttar Pradesh.
- It was again announced that on December 06, 1992, Karseva will be done. Shri Kalyan Singh ji announced that there will be no firing. Security forces were stationed around Ayodhya.
- Due to the atrocities being committed by the devotees of Ram, the anger of the society erupted and the Babri structure was demolished.
- Crores of Ram devotees participated in this Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mukti Yagya (Movement) which started in 1984. The resolve of the devotees of Ram became more determined with every campaign.
