WhatsApp services restored after being disrupted for two hours

New Delhi, Oct 25 (PTI) The services of social media platform WhatsApp were restored after being disrupted for nearly two hours on Tuesday afternoon.

Due to the sudden shutdown of services, a large number of users from India to the UK could not send any texts and videos to each other for almost two hours.

WhatsApp-owned Meta said, “The bug has been fixed and services have been restored.”

The company, however, did not elaborate on the reason for the disruption in services.

According to Downdetector, which monitors incidents of disruptions to services, WhatsApp was not working for many users in many regions.

WhatsApp users in major cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Kolkata were affected by the disruption in services. Downdetector reported that around 29,000 users reported disruption.

Services on the web version of WhatsApp were also affected. The web version is used by many people on their desktops and laptops.

A Meta spokesperson said, “We are aware that people have had trouble messaging on WhatsApp today. We have resolved the issue and apologize for any inconvenience caused.

Due to the disruption in services, Twitter was also flooded with jokes (memes) related to WhatsApp. Along with this, the hashtag ‘WhatsAppDown’ was also trending on Twitter.
