The entertainment industry is changing rapidly to give the audience a great movie watching experience. One of these changes is the IMAX theatre, where one can enjoy watching movies in a huge screen. But Kerala, the major state of South India, was still bereft of this special kind of movie theatre. Now PVR Cinemas, the largest multiplex business company in the country, is going to launch the first IMAX theater in Kerala.
PVR Cinemas has opened the first IMAX in the state of Kerala at Lulu Mall in the capital Thiruvananthapuram. The company informed that the 12 screen superplex at Lulu Mall will further enhance the entertainment level of the visitors. The cinema will open for the general public from December 5. This will be PVR’s fourth superplex, the previous ones being in New Delhi, Bengaluru and Noida.
The IMAX was formally inaugurated by Ajay Bijli, Chairman and Managing Director, PVR Limited, MA Yusuf Ali, Chairman and Managing Director, Lulu Group International and Sanjeev Kumar Bijli, Joint Managing Director, PVR Limited, on Thursday evening.
Sanjeev Kumar Bijli said that the group is very optimistic about the Kerala market. “We have had a successful venture with Lulu Mall. We are very excited to bring the first Superplex to Thiruvananthapuram and this move is in line with our expansion strategy in the South.”
PVR Group said, “There will be 12 screens and international formats like IMAX and 4DX, the costlier formats of PVR.” Giving details of the expansion plan in South India, Bijli said that Bengaluru will have a total of 31 screens next year while Chennai Five more screens will be started in He told that this will be the fourth superplex of PVR, before this it is in New Delhi, Bengaluru and Noida.
